AXCIN 500MG TAB
AXCIN 500mg Tablet contains Ciprofloxacin 500mg, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic manufactured by Novartis Pharma (Pakistan) Ltd. It is prescribed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, skin, bones, joints, and certain sexually transmitted infections. Ciprofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, effectively stopping bacterial growth and eliminating the infection. It is not effective against viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
Uses
AXCIN 500mg Tablet is commonly used to treat:
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Kidney infections
- Respiratory tract infections (bronchitis and certain types of pneumonia)
- Sinus infections
- Gastrointestinal infections, including infectious diarrhea and typhoid fever
- Skin and soft tissue infections

Pharmacist Advice
- Take exactly as prescribed and complete the full course, even if you feel better.
- Drink plenty of water during treatment.
- Avoid taking the tablet together with milk, dairy products, calcium-fortified juices, antacids, iron, or zinc supplements, as these reduce absorption. Take them at least 2 hours before or 4–6 hours after ciprofloxacin.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen, as ciprofloxacin may increase sensitivity to sunlight.
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of tendon disorders, epilepsy, kidney disease, or heart rhythm problems.
- Stop the medicine and seek medical advice immediately if you develop tendon pain or swelling.
- This medicine should only be used under medical supervision because inappropriate use can contribute to antibiotic resistance.
