Uses & Mechanism of Action

• For Adults (≥ 18 years), taken once daily or as prescribed 

• Combination therapy of:

  • Atenolol (50 mg) — a cardio‑selective β₁‑blocker that reduces heart rate and cardiac output

  • Chlorthalidone (12.5 mg) — a thiazide‑class diuretic that promotes salt & water excretion

• Primary indications:

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)

  • Angina (chest pain)

  • Prevention of cardiovascular complications like stroke, heart attack, or kidney disease due to high BP 

  • Adjunct uses: migraine prevention, certain arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, post‑myocardial infarction management, and edema reduction

Possible Side Effects

Common/Mild (usually self-limiting)

• Fatigue, dizziness, low blood pressure on standing (orthostatic hypotension) 

• Nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, headache, abdominal discomfort 

• Cold hands or feet, lightheadedness, weakness, numbness or tingling
