Possible Side Effects
Benzoyl peroxide may cause:
- Dryness
- Peeling or flaking
- Redness
- Mild burning or stinging
- Skin irritation
It may also bleach hair, towels, clothing or other fabrics that come into contact with the product.
Pharmacist Advice
Apply a small amount to damp skin and gently massage over the affected area, avoiding the eye area. Rinse thoroughly.
Because dryness or peeling may occur, start with one application daily and gradually increase to twice daily if needed or as directed by a doctor. If bothersome dryness occurs, reduce use to once daily or every other day.
Use a suitable moisturizer after cleansing. During daytime, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Avoid combining multiple strong acne treatments without professional advice, as this may increase skin irritation.
Do not apply to severely irritated, damaged or broken skin. If severe irritation develops, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.
