DORMICUM 7.5MG TAB NET
Midazolam 7.5mg tablets exert their effects primarily through interaction with the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain. It belongs to the class of drugs known as benzodiazepines, which enhance the activity of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter. When administered, midazolam binds to specific benzodiazepine receptors, increasing the frequency of chloride channel opening, which leads to an influx of chloride ions into the neurons. This hyperpolarizes the neuronal membrane, making it more resistant to excitation. As a result, midazolam reduces neuronal excitability, leading to sedative, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and amnestic effects. The 7.5mg dosage is formulated to provide a rapid onset and short duration of action, making it suitable for procedural sedation and pre-anesthetic medication.
