Active Ingredient & Indication

• Generic Name: Lacosamide, 200 mg per dose

• Indications: Treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults and adolescents (add-on or monotherapy). In some settings, it may also be used for certain types of neuropathic pain 

Dosage & Precautions

• Typical dosing:

  • Starting dose often 50 mg twice daily (100 mg/day), which may be increased weekly by 100 mg/day (in divided doses) to a usual maintenance range of 200 to 400 mg per day, based on response and tolerance Use caution in:

  • Patients with conduction problems (e.g. PR‑interval prolongation), cardiac disease, or history of myocardial infarction or heart failure due to potential adverse effects on heart conduction 

• Age restrictions:

  • Not recommended for patients under 16–18 years, depending on local guidelines
