LOCYST TABLET 10 PERCENT

Locyst tablet 10 percent L-Methylfolate is the biologically active form of folic acid. Unlike regular folic acid, it does not require conversion in the body, so it is easily absorbed and used, especially in people with MTHFR gene mutations.

Uses

• Folate deficiency

• Megaloblastic anemia

• Support in pregnancy (as advised by a doctor)

• Neuropathy (nerve damage), especially in diabetes

• Adjunct therapy in depression (supports neurotransmitter production)

• Cardiovascular support by reducing homocysteine levels

How It Works

It directly participates in DNA synthesis and neurotransmitter production (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine) and helps red blood cell formation.

Dosage

• Common doses range from 400 mcg to 15 mg daily

• Take once daily, with or without food

• Dose depends on indication and medical advice

Side Effects

• Usually well tolerated

• Rare: headache, nausea, bloating, sleep disturbance

Precautions

• Use with caution in vitamin B12 deficiency (may mask symptoms)
