LOMOTIL TAB (500S)

Lomotil is a prescription antidiarrheal medication combining:

• Diphenoxylate, an opioid‑related agent that slows intestinal movement

• Atropine, added in low dose to discourage overuse through anticholinergic effects 

It’s used to treat acute or chronic diarrhea in patients aged 13 and older 

💊 Dosage Guidelines

• Initial adult dose: 2 tablets (5 mg diphenoxylate) taken 3–4 times daily until diarrhea subsides (max 8 tablets/24 hrs)

• Maintenance: Reduce to the lowest effective dose—often as few as 2 tablets daily 

• Duration: If no improvement within 10 days, discontinue 

Not recommended for children under 6; use cautiously in ages 6–12 or 13–18 per medical advice
