Sita Met 50 mg / 1000 mg Tablet (14s) – Sitagliptin + Metformin Extended‑Release

Overview
Sita Met combines Sitagliptin 50 mg (DPP‑4 inhibitor) with Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg ER (biguanide) in a fixed‑dose tablet. This dual‑action therapy is prescribed for type 2 diabetes mellitus when monotherapy is inadequate, helping control blood sugar levels effectively

Key Benefits & Mechanism

  • Improves glycemic control by lowering fasting and post‑mealtime blood glucose

  • Sitagliptin increases incretin hormones—GLP‑1 and GIP—to enhance insulin secretion and suppress glucagon

  • Metformin ER reduces hepatic glucose production, increases insulin sensitivity, and slows intestinal glucose absorption

  • Convenient twice‑daily dosing with meals improves compliance and minimizes GI side effects

Common Uses

  • As adjunct therapy to diet and exercise in adults with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled on either component alone

  • Used when adding sitagliptin and metformin separately is clinically appropriate

Dosage & Administration

  • Typically 1 tablet twice daily with meals, or as directed by physician

  • Total daily dose usually not to exceed 100 mg sitagliptin and 2000 mg metformin

  • For patients already on metformin, sitagliptin is added without exceeding safe dosing levels

Safety, Contraindications & Precautions

  • Contraindicated in severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²) and not recommended if eGFR is 30–45 unless benefits justify use Avoid in liver disease, acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, or diabetic ketoacidosis

  • Possible adverse effects: diarrhea, nausea, headache, upper respiratory infections, hypoglycemia, vitamin B₁₂ deficiency, rare lactic acidosis, pancreatitis, or serious allergic reactions

📦 Packaging & Availability in Pakistan

  • Supplied as 14 film-coated tablets per pack; sold as 2×7 or 14‑count strips

  • Marketed by CCL Pharmaceuticals; average retail price around PKR 580–650 per pack depending on vendor and discounts
