Indications & Dosage

• Indicated for type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults (≥ 18 years) when glycemic control is inadequate with diet and metformin XR alone 

• Dosage: Typically one tablet once daily, taken with the evening meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects 

⚠️ Side Effects & Precautions

• Common side effects: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, headache, mild hypoglycemia (especially if combined with other agents) Serious risks:

  • Rare cases of lactic acidosis (especially in renal/hepatic impairment or dehydration)

  • Reports of pancreatitis, joint pain, allergic reactions (e.g., Stevens–Johnson syndrome), bullous pemphigoid Contraindications: Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or liver disease, dehydration, hypersensitivity to ingredients
