Indication & Dosage

• Indicated for type 2 diabetics (≥ 18 yrs) when diet, exercise, and metformin monotherapy fail to provide adequate glycemic control 

• The extended-release (XR) formulation allows once‑daily dosing, with sitagliptin and metformin released slowly over time 

⚠️ Side Effects & Warnings

• Common: Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea), headache, fatigue

• Also possible: Lactic acidosis (rare but serious), hypoglycemia (esp. with other antidiabetic agents), kidney issues, infections, joint pain, allergic reactions 

• Avoid if: Severe renal or hepatic impairment, dehydration, diabetic ketoacidosis, hypersensitivity to components 

• Important: Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis
