Pharmacist Advice
Uzaril 500mg is a prescription antibiotic and should be used only when prescribed by a doctor. Do not use it for viral infections such as common colds or influenza.
Take the medicine exactly as prescribed and complete the prescribed course, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Swallow the tablet with plenty of water.
Avoid taking ciprofloxacin at the same time as antacids containing aluminium or magnesium, iron or zinc supplements, or other mineral supplements, as they can reduce absorption. Ask your pharmacist about the appropriate time interval.
Tell your doctor if you have a history of tendon problems, kidney disease, seizures, heart-rhythm problems, or if you take multiple medicines.
Avoid unnecessary exposure to strong sunlight because ciprofloxacin can increase sensitivity to sunlight.
Important Warning
Fluoroquinolone antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin can cause uncommon but potentially serious and long-lasting adverse effects. They should therefore be reserved for appropriate bacterial infections when the expected benefits outweigh the risks.
